This shot was taken around March 2004 just before the evening. I was driving along the road and just got a glimpse of the shot by chance. I really love the colour of the reeds and the water surrond in the foreground, although Velvia can let the average punter away with alot of things.
Narrow Water Keep and its accompanying castle are situated on the northern shore of Carlingford Lough at the mouth of the Newry River. The stone keep was built by the Normans under Hugh DeLacy, Earl of Ulster, in 1212 to protect the market town of Newry some 5 miles upriver. The walls are on average 5 feet thick! The Republic of Ireland is just yards away across the river.
