Selling Photographs on Irelandscape
Member photographers have now the possibility to sell their photographs using Irelandscape's interface.
Photographers must have acquired the
TRUSTED
status before they can use this feature.
Please, read the
relevant section in our FAQs
in order to find out more about membership levels.
As a reminder, photographers acquire automatically the
TRUSTED
level when seven of their photographs have been validated for publication on this website.
Before starting to sell, photographers should first specify their prefered method of payment on their "Account" page in their Control Panel.
Selling photographs on Irelandscape is done in two phases:
- Create products from the Control Panel.
- Associate photographs with one or more products.
Creating Products with the Control Panel
Before selling photographs on Irelandscape, you must first define new products.
This can be done from the Control Panel, by clicking the "product" link in the top navigation bar:
Defining a new product is done by clicking the "New Product" button:
This will redirect you to a page from which you will be asked to enter the following information:
-
Product Name:
A short description for your product. Remember that a product could be something else than a photographic print. For example: a T-shirt with your picture printed on it, a mug, a JPEG file, etc.
-
Description:
A more detailed description for your product. Try to give many useful details here, as this is the main information that will be visible to your potential customers.
-
Size:
Enter here the size of your product. For example, it could be XXL for a T-shirt, or 10x8 inch for a photographic print.
Note that there can be only one size per product! You will need to duplicate your product for each available size.
-
Types:
You may enter here the different types available for your product. Each type must be comma separated. For example: "matt paper, glossy paper".
Your customers will be asked to choose one of the available types before validating a purchase.
-
Packaging:
This is where you describe how the product will be shipped. Try to reassure your customers that the products they purchase won't be damaged during shipment.
-
Cost:
Specify here the cost for your product. Note that this price *must* be specified in Euro !
Credit card transactions will actually be performed in US Dollars because this is the only currency available by our credit card processor, for the moment. Note that this is expected to change in the future.
All prices will be displayed in Euro as well as in US Dollars. The conversion rate is regularly updated and should match the one used by our credit card processor.
Note also that the price that you specify here should include all shipping cost.
When you have finished filling in this information, click the "Create Product!" button.
As you can see, your list of existing products now displays a new entry along with three clickable icons:
-
Edit a product.
-
Duplicate a product. This is very useful when you want to create a product that is very similar to an existing one.
For example, you might want to duplicate a product when the only difference between these two products is the size.
Make sure to rename your new product after duplication, by clicking the edit icon.
-
Delete a product.
Advertising your Photographs for Sale
Now that you have created your products, you can start making your photographs sellable.
To do this, simply click on a thumbnail corresponding to a picture of yours that you would like to sell, in order to access the image details page.
Click now the "Sell" button represented by a dollar sign: .
Doing this will redirect you to a page from which you can associate this particular picture to one or more products you have created earlier on.
Click the "Submit" button to validate your modifications.
Your picture is now for sale.
Sales Commission and Costs
Each sale is subject to a comission of 30% with a minimum of 3 Euro.
The remaining amount will be payed to the photographer using the method of payment selected from the "Account" page (see above).
Examples:
-
A 16x12 print: value 40 Euro. Irelandscape commision = 12 Euro.
-
A 12x8 print: value 20 Euro. Irelandscape commision = 6 Euro.
-
A JPEG file: value 6 Euro. Irelandscape commission = 3 Euro.
Sales Periods and Payments Schedule
All payments due to member photographers for a period extending from the first day of the month to the last day of the same month will be payed
on the last day of the following month.
For example, all profits resulting from sales completed during the period covering September 2004 (1/9/2004 => 30/9/2004) would be payed by the 31st of October 2004.
This duration, extending between the moment the buyer has purchased the product and the photographer has been paid, is in place for the following reasons:
-
It allows Irelandscape to implement safely its
refund policy.
That is, Irelandscape is the party responsible for refunding buyers who are dissatisfied with their purchases during a 30 days period.
Keeping sales money for the period during which customers are elligible for refunds is necessary for the viability of this project.
-
It avoids the webmaster to have to take care of each payment each time a product has been sold, thus processing all payments for a period of one month at one given time. This is much easier and more managable.
Scope of Responsibilities for Sellers
By selling photographs through this website, an Irelandscape member should accept the following responsibilities:

-
He accepts Irelandscape's refund policy.
-
He recognizes to be the author of the mentionned photographs and that he is legally entitled to sell these in accordance with copyright laws in his own country and abroad.
Scope of Responsibilities for Irelandscape
The Irelandscape webmaster takes the following responsibility:
-
He will process payments to Irelandscape member photographers as explained in the above sections.
-
